东北师范大学于1946年建校，其历史可追溯至1906年（光绪三十一年）的京师优级师范学堂，是中国建校最早的师范大学之一，已入选世界一流大学建设高校。
截至2018年11月，学校有自由校区和净月校区2个校区，占地面积162公顷；下设22个学院（部），89个本科专业；24个博士一级授权学科，39个硕士一级授权学科，22个博士后科研流动站。3个学科在第三轮学科评估中进入全国前十，6个学科被列为吉林省“双一流”建设学科[6]；有教职工2699人，各类在校生32127人。
